A critical emergency water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) intervention has been successfully completed in the China IDP Camp, North Shoa, Debre Birhan, significantly improving access to safe water for more than 5,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs).
The project installed
One large emergency water storage tank (3m x 3m) to ensure reliable backup supply.
Constructed two new water points, equipped with 12 taps and 8 taps, to ease congestion and reduce long waiting times.
Rehabilitated 900 meters of water pipeline, restoring consistent flow and improving distribution across the camp.
Camp residents, many of whom previously faced long daily walks to access limited water supplies, are now benefiting from a safer and more dependable system.
The completion of this WASH project marks an important step toward improving living conditions within the China IDP Camp and strengthening community resilience amid ongoing humanitarian challenges.
