The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church Development and Inter‑Church Aid Commission (EOTC-DICAC) has extended important support to the Sebeta Getesemani Nunnery, providing ten desktop computers and scholastic materials to support its students. According to Archbishop Abun Samuel, the donation aims to equip students with digital skills, enabling them to engage with the rapidly digitizing world. The computers are expected to give students access to computer-based learning and exposure to digital technologies, preparing them for modern educational and professional environments.

Over the years, Sebeta Nunnery has played a role in providing shelter, education and vocational training for vulnerable children, including orphans. A total of 150 students benefit from the elementary and preparatory school programs, under the nunnery’s educational and social-support mission.
The new digital resources are expected to enhance their learning experience and help bridge the gap between traditional education and digital literacy.
This initiative reflects a broader vision: that church-affiliated schools and monastic institutions can remain relevant and effective amid changing times, offering quality education and practical skills that help students thrive in a modern, connected world.
Since its founding in 1972, EOTC-DICAC has supported a wide range of church-affiliated institutions across Ethiopia, including monasteries, nunneries, schools and community-service projects.
