On the Occasion of the Kiremt Season – A Call to Plant Trees and Protect Creation
In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit—One God. Amen.
As we enter the blessed Kiremt season, a time when the land is nourished by God’s rain and the earth is renewed with life, I urge all of you individuals, families, and congregations to embrace this season as a divine opportunity to plant trees and care for our environment.
The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church teaches us that creation is a sacred gift entrusted to our stewardship. Our forefathers preserved church forests for generations, seeing them as symbols of life, faith, and continuity. Today, this sacred tradition calls us again.
Let us honor God by planting trees symbols of peace, hope, and sustainability. Let us protect our watersheds, prevent soil erosion, and safeguard biodiversity. And let us remember when we plant a tree, we are sowing love for the future and offering praise to the Creator.
May the Lord bless our efforts, water the seeds we plant, and help us pass on a greener, holier Ethiopia to generations to come.
With blessings,
Abune Samuel
Archbishop, EOTC-DICAC
