An event aimed at strengthening social cohesion between urban refugees and host communities was held at Nifas Silk Lafto Sub-City, Woreda 12 in Addis Ababa under the Mignote Project, in partnership with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
Through close collaboration with woreda and sub-city government structures, the initiative focused on reinforcing inclusive urban refugee responses and supported community infrastructure with a material investment over 8 million ETB. The support targeted shared community spaces, including daycare centers, community libraries, and youth centers in Nifas Silk Lafto and Lemi Kura Sub-Cities.
The engagement brought together government actors, development partners, urban refugee response stakeholders, and refugee and host community members, highlighting the importance of partnership, institutional collaboration, and local-level engagement in fostering peaceful coexistence and social cohesion in urban settings.
